We are dedicated to growing Georgia’s businesses that create opportunities and support for microenterprise development as an avenue for economic self-sufficiency.
A “microenterprise” or “micro business” is commonly defined as a business with 0-5 employees and needing less than $35,000 in start-up capital. Many micro businesses are home-based, some are part-time, some are started by dislocated workers, some provide an opportunity for low-income households to become more self-sufficient.
GMEN has been the voice of microenterprise development in Georgia for over 10 years. We have championed the idea that business ownership empowers people to contribute to their own economic self-sufficiency and the well being of their communities.
Small businesses are at the heart of economic development for job creation and viable communities. GMEN and its member organizations are the experts on how to support aspiring “micro” entrepreneurs. We partner with second stage business development providers to provide expertise on how to support existing entrepreneurs in their business growth.
GMEN is advancing microenterprise development in Georgia by providing a strong board leadership, cutting edge training, innovative programs, and public education; GMEN is poised to lead the field in Georgia to new horizons.
