We create opportunities and support for microenterprise development as an avenue for economic self-sufficiency. We are an industry association of organizations and individuals who provide support for the development of microenterprises in Georgia.
History
The Georgia Micro Enterprise Network (GMEN) is a private, not-for-profit organization established in June 1997 and dedicated to making a difference in the economic development of Georgia. The community collaboration for GMEN started in 1994.

Members
GMEN includes a network of microenterprise development organizations (MDOs) that provide direct services to microentrepreneurs for busines start-up, business growth, and access to capital. A microenterprise is a small business with 0-5 employees and needing less than $50,000 in start-up capital.

Business Case for Microenterprise Development
The FIELD division (www.fieldus.org) of the Aspen Institute has served as the research arm of the microenterprise industry since its inception. In fact, the Aspen Institute and the Corporation for Enterprise Development (www.cfed.org) were the catalyst for the industry. FIELD has developed two sets of research making the case for doing microenterprise development work and funding microenterprise development work.
